Active Herpes (HSV1, HSV2, Herpes Zoster/Shingles) in the treatment area
Treatment should not proceed until the infection or virus has fully cleared and the skin has returned to a healthy baseline.
Autoimmune Disorders
Treatment is generally contraindicated during active or unstable autoimmune disease and should only be considered in stable cases with medical clearance and conservative treatment parameters.
Blood Thinners, Aspirin or Increased Bleeding Disorders
Treatment is not recommended due to the increased risk of bruising, bleeding, delayed healing and vascular complications.
Cancer, Chemotherapy or Radiotherapy (within 2 years)
Treatment should not proceed during active cancer treatment or within 2 years of chemotherapy or radiotherapy. Written medical clearance from the treating oncologist is recommended before treatment is considered.
Contagious Skin Disorders/Diseases (Impetigo, Chickenpox, Mumps)
Treatment must be deferred until the infection has fully resolved and the client is no longer contagious.
Cystic Acne in the treatment area
Treatment should not proceed if active inflammation or an impaired skin barrier is present.
Diabetes Type 1 & 2
Treatment is contraindicated in poorly controlled diabetes and requires medical clearance and conservative treatment parameters in well controlled cases.
Heart Disease or Cardiovascular Conditions
Treatment should only proceed if the condition is medically stable and the client has obtained medical clearance where required.
High or Low Blood Pressure
Treatment should be avoided in uncontrolled blood pressure conditions and may only proceed in stable, well managed cases.
History of Keloid Scarring
Treatment is not recommended due to the increased risk of abnormal scar formation and unpredictable healing.
History of Seizures or Epilepsy
Treatment may increase the risk of neurological reactions or seizure triggers and is generally contraindicated.
Hypoesthesia (Numbness)
Treatment should not be performed over areas with impaired or absent sensation.
Immunocompromised Patients (e.g. HIV/AIDS)
Treatment is not recommended due to increased risks of infection, delayed healing and prolonged inflammation.
Inflammatory Disorders (Eczema or Psoriasis in the treatment area)
Treatment should not proceed until the skin barrier is fully healed, stable and intact.
IPL/Laser Hair Reduction in the treatment area (within the last 2 weeks)
Treatment should be postponed for at least 2 weeks following IPL or laser hair reduction.
Laser Resurfacing/Cosmetic Surgery/Surgery (within 3–6 months)
Treatment should not proceed until the area is fully healed and medically stable.
Lipoedema
Body treatments are generally contraindicated due to increased pain, swelling and inflammatory risks.
Melanotan Injections/Permatan Nasal Spray (within the last 6 months)
Treatment should be postponed due to increased pigmentation and skin sensitivity risks.
Metal Plates, Pins or Surgical Implants
Treatment must not be performed directly over or near metal implants.
Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
Treatment is generally contraindicated due to altered sensation, heat sensitivity and unpredictable neurological responses.
Open Lesions or Bruises
Treatment should not be performed over broken, inflamed or bruised skin.
Pacemakers or Internal Defibrillators
Treatment is contraindicated in clients with pacemakers or internal defibrillators.
Pregnancy, Trying to Become Pregnant or Breastfeeding
Treatment is contraindicated due to insufficient safety data and unpredictable circulatory, hormonal and tissue responses.
Raised Moles or Suspicious Pigmented Lesions in the treatment area
Treatment must avoid direct contact with raised moles or suspicious lesions.
Renal Failure
Treatment is contraindicated due to impaired healing, fluid regulation and increased systemic stress.
Retin-A, Tretinoin or Prescription Strength Acne Medication (within the last 2 weeks)
Treatment should be postponed due to increased skin sensitivity and irritation risk.
Smoking, Alcohol or Recreational Drugs (within the last 24 hours)
Treatment should be postponed due to impaired healing, circulation and increased sensitivity.
UV Exposure or Fake Tan (within the last 4 weeks)
Treatment should be postponed due to increased sensitivity, pigmentation and irritation risks.
Varicose Veins, Spider Veins or DVT
Treatment must not be performed directly over affected areas or in clients with active or previous DVT.
Vitiligo
Treatment is generally contraindicated due to unpredictable inflammatory and pigment responses.
Waxing, Plucking, Electrolysis or Depilatory Creams (within 2 weeks)
Treatment should be postponed for at least 2 weeks.
Body Contouring Contraindications & Precautions
Excessive Alcohol Consumption
Body contouring treatment should be postponed in clients with excessive alcohol consumption due to increased dehydration and circulatory stress.
Hormonal Imbalance (e.g. PCOS)
Treatment may only proceed if the condition is medically managed and stable.
Less than 20mm of Pinchable Adipose Tissue
Ultrasound body contouring is not suitable where there is less than 20mm of pinchable adipose tissue.
Liver Disease
Body contouring treatment is not recommended due to impaired metabolic processing and detoxification.
Poor Lymphatic System
Treatment may not be suitable due to impaired lymphatic drainage and fluid processing.
Underactive or Overactive Thyroid
Treatment may only proceed if thyroid function is stable and medically managed.
Weight Loss Medication
Body contouring may not be suitable for clients taking weight loss medication due to altered metabolic and circulatory responses.
RF Contraindications & Precautions
Benzoyl Peroxide use in the treatment area (within the past week)
RF treatment should be postponed for at least one week due to increased skin sensitivity.
Fillers or Cosmetic Injectables (within the last 4 weeks)
RF should not be performed within 4 weeks of dermal fillers or cosmetic injections.
Muscle Relaxant Injections (within the past 2 weeks)
RF treatment should be postponed for at least 2 weeks following muscle relaxant injections.
Photosensitising Medication or St John’s Wort
RF may increase the risk of skin sensitivity and adverse reactions in clients taking photosensitising medications or St John’s Wort.
Roaccutane or Oral Isotretinoin (within the last 6 months)
RF treatment must not be performed within 6 months of Roaccutane or oral isotretinoin use.
Rosacea
RF should not proceed in clients with active rosacea due to increased risks of flare ups, redness and vascular irritation.
Tattoos, Including Cosmetic Tattooing
RF should not be performed directly over tattoos or cosmetic tattooing.
Vascular Lesions in the treatment area
RF treatment should avoid vascular lesions due to increased risks of irritation and vascular damage.
